Reduce The Risk Of SIDS By Using A Sleeping Bag. aden + anais Review & Giveaway!

aden + anais is a unique company started by two Aussie moms who moved from Australia to the United States. They were searching for muslin wraps for their babies like the ones they had back in Australia. The muslin wraps were a staple for every mom in Australia, but were nowhere to be found here in the US. So they decided to make their own and aden + anais was born!

I had the opportunity to review the aden + anais Sleeping Bag in the adorable Fish print (above). I couldn't believe how soft and adorable it was when it arrived. I haven't had any experience with muslin material before, but I definitely like what I see! I did use sleep sacks with Danika when she was a baby and found that the thick cotton often caused her to overheat. I love that the muslin fabric this Sleeping Bag is made of is breathable and provides plenty of warmth without overheating.

I am definitely a big fan of using Sleeping Bags instead of blankets during sleep time. By not having extra blankets in the crib you significantly reduce your babies risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) while still providing the warmth of a "blanket". Some other benefits of the aden + anais Sleeping Bag are:

-lightweight breathable fabric that allows body temperature to adjust naturally to prevent overheating

-perfect for the transition from the swaddling stage

-the fabric becomes softer and fluffier after every wash!

If you haven't had experience with using Sleeping Bags they are meant to replace loose blankets in the crib and are worn on top of your babies normal sleepwear. They are a relatively new idea with the increased awareness of SIDS and ways to reduce it.

Another feature of the aden + anais Sleeping Bag I though was really neat was the zipper placement. Instead of trying to zip up your baby the regular way (zipper zips up to the chin) they have put the zipper in the opposite way so it actually zips down and the bottom of the zipper is at the top. This sure makes it easier to zip with your baby in it!
