Seventh Generation is becoming a very well known name for their safe, effective products. I love that their products are natural and safe to use for your whole family. I have reviewed their cleaning supplies in the past and was very happy with them. I love that I can clean around my daughter without being worried about chemicals and fumes.
Did you know most tampons contain cotton, rayon and are whitened with chlorine. I don't know about you but do you really want to put something with chlorine in it into your body? Luckily the folks over at Seventh Generation have thought of this and have come up with an awesome alternative. They sell both tampons and pads that are free from rayon and are whitened without the use of chlorine. Another bonus is that they are also organic cotton. No more putting icky chemicals into our bodies without thinking!Of course since I am six months pregnant I am not in need of tampons so I was unable to actually try them out for absorbency and comfort, but I did look at them. They are cardboard applicators but are shiny and seam like they would be easy to use and comfortable. They are available in Regular, Super and Super Plus. They sell for $5.99-$6.99 for a 20 count box.
I was also able to review the Feminine Care Pads that they offer. These will definitely come in handy after I deliver. I love that they are safe for sensitive skin (which will be a must if using these postpartum), whitened without chlorine bleach, and have an ultra thin absorbent layer. They are available in ultrathin, regular and overnight in both pantiliners and pads. They sell for $4.99 a package.
We also tried out Seventh Generation's bathroom tissue. I have to say we are tough critics and like out toilet paper to be ultra soft. While it wasn't the softest toilet paper I have ever used I felt good knowing that it is made from 100% recycled paper which helps the environment. You can buy their bathroom tissue in single rolls, 4 packs, 8 packs or 12 packs. Prices range from $1.49-$11.99.
I tested out Seventh Generation's Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender Laundry Detergent as well. It worked great on our clothes and had the scent of eucalyptus. Here is what the laundry detergent has to offer:A unique combination of plant-based surfactants and enzymes to power out even the toughest stains. To conserve water, please run full loads.
32 oz., 20 loads - Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender
-Non-toxic & biodegradable
-Hypo-allergenic
-Free of phosphates & optical brighteners
-Safe for septic & greywater systems
-Not tested on animals
-Kosher-certified
We also tried their fabric softener sheets in the same scent. They worked great and our clothes were soft and static free. They are different than your typical dryer sheets in that they look similar to brown paper towels. They worked wonderfully though!
Seventh Generation even offers chlorine free bleach. I love that it is safe for whites and colors and doesn't use chlorine. It is also non toxic and hypoallergenic which is a must with kids in the house. The bleach sells for $4.99 for a 64 oz bottle. You can buy all of Seventh Generation's products on their site as well as stores near you and online both of which can be located here. So if you haven't made the switch to safe, chemical free products yet you should definitely visit Seventh Generation and give their products a try.
Win! One lucky reader will win a Feminine Care Kit which includes:
- 1 box regular applicator tampons
- 1 box super applicator tampons
- 1 box super plus applicator tampons
- Ultrathin regular pantiliners
- Ultrathin super long pantiliners
- Ultrathin overnight pantiliners
- Maxi overnight
- Maxi regular
- Blue eucalyptus & lavendar laundry detergent
- Blue eucalyptus & lavendar fabric softener sheets
- Chlorine Free bleach
- Bath tissue
- Reusable tote
Isn't this a great prize?! The picture at the top of the review includes everything you will receive.
This giveaway has ended. Congrats to the winner:

At their site I learned this about Ovarian Cancer: Ovarian Cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among U.S. women.
Seventh Generation has pledged to donate $22,000 to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, to represent the number of women that will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year.
The OCRF along with Woman to Woman, a volunteer network providing hope and support to women in treatment, will use those dollars to continue the conversation.
