The Cloth Diaper That Inspired Me To Switch From Disposables to Cloth! Review & Giveaway!

As you can tell from the name of my blog I am from Minnesota and for this reason I absolutely love to feature Minnesota based companies. One such company is Softbums! Sarah (yes the same name as me!) is the woman behind it all and started the business in her basement to make extra income for her family. She now ships diapers all over the world and in my opinion has the best design out there! She has been designing innovative diapers for for 7 years and in the cloth diaper community for 13 years! I was one of those moms who said I would never cloth diaper and hadn't even considered making the switch. I had a picture in my head of icky diapers and messy clean ups. My husband was in the same boat and never thought he would use cloth diapers on our kids. Sarah contacted me to do a review of her Softbums and I have to say I really debated whether or not I would try them. I poured over her site and found a great video demonstrating how the Softbums work. After reading about the diapers and watching the video as well as reading her cloth diaper book, I was convinced and said yes to the review. We have been completely converted to cloth diapers now thanks to Sarah and her super easy to use Softbums.

Here is Danika in her "pretty diaper" as she started calling them when we made the switch. I love the Bubblegum pink color, it is so bright! I was really loving that the Softbums are one size diapers. This means your child will use the same diaper from birth to potty training. I loved this because Danika is almost two years old and will be potty trained soon (hopefully!) so I wanted a diaper that I could also use on Aiden. The Softbums are very easy to adjust with snuggers that adjust the leg elastic from 2'' to 14''. They are easy to access right in the front of the diaper and tuck away easily into a little pocket. Once you adjust your diaper you don't need to change it until your child grows and needs it to be adjusted bigger. I love the one time adjustment with no snaps!
They are a trim fitting diaper and don't add as much bulk as many cloth diapers do. They have a hook and loop closure with fold over tabs for in the laundry. They have washed so well and we love them. I was also impressed that I was able to wash this Firecracker red diaper with my white inserts for the very first time and I didn't have to wash it alone. It didn't bleed at all and I couldn't believe it! So not only do Softbums offer bright, beautiful colors, but they don't bleed either :) So here is Danika in her Firecracker Softbum and...

here is Aiden in the exact same diaper! He was about 2 weeks old in this picture. They truly will fit every baby from birth to potty training. I really love that they are made locally by work at home moms too.

Not only do they fit wonderfully, but they don't leak either! Danika wears them at night with a doubler and wakes up dry every morning. I was really impressed at how well they soak up everything and don't leak. Danika has been wearing them full time for many months now and hasn't ever had a problem with leaking. I also like how easy the #2's are to clean up. They roll off into the toilet easily and don't require rinsing or soaking. Simply toss the mess and throw it in the diaper pail until laundry day. We haven't had any problems with our Softbums staining either. They come out bright white every time!

Another thing I really like is how affordable they are due to the snap in inserts and cover. You are able to reuse your cover every time unless it gets dirty you simply rotate your covers throughout the day and snap in a new insert each time. The inserts have an easy one snap system and are easy to remove too. If you buy covers and more inserts than covers, such as a 3 to 1 ratio then you will have plenty to diaper throughout the day. Softbums have a soft fleece inner and an extra long insert that you can fold over to give your baby the most protection where he or she needs it. She offers 3 different types of snap in inserts as well as doublers. My favorite snap in insert is the Bamboo Velour, it holds a ton and is so buttery soft!
