Moon Dough!

Wednesday, August 25, 2010
I remember growing up with Play-Doh and I loved playing with it. Well, now there is a new kid in town! Moon Dough is the coolest stuff I've seen. It feels like a cross between marshmallows and cotton candy. It is super light and airy but moldable. It is so weird and hard to describe, but very cool. Danika got the Barn Moon Dough set to try out. She was so excited to try it out and could hardly contain herself.

I was amazed at how detailed the molds come out. Here is a hay bale! It just pops right out of the hand mold but Danika needed a little help twisting the mold to get it to pop out.

I was so excited though because she was able to use the barn molds all by herself! This is quite a big deal as most of her Play-Doh sets require me to help her with the molds. You put your Moon Dough in the top of the barn and crank the handle.

Keep stuffing and cranking and out pop a bunch of different shaped animals. It is very cool! I love the silo too which is on the side and catches the extra moon dough that falls from the mold. It is easy to empty and reuse the moon dough too.

Danika had a bunch of fun animals in no time. She thought she was pretty cool to do it all by herself.

I was amazed at the detail and how light and airy the animals were. Danika just loved it! I will say it is messy though as the airy nature of it causes it to create a lot of little crumbs. I would recommend playing over a hard wood or tile floor that is easy to clean up. We did this on carpet and I was able to vacuum it up with a handheld vac pretty easily.

Another very cool thing that I love is that the moon dough never dries out! That amazed me and I loved that I didn't have to clean it all up immediately after she was done playing with it. I left it all out on the table for a few hours and cleaned it up and sure enough it wasn't dried out! How cool is that?

If you have a kiddo with allergies you will be pleased to learn that it is hypo-allergenic and wheat free!

I had to laugh because my husband got home from work after the kids were in bed. He saw the moon dough sitting out on the table and started playing with it. He thought it was so cool and it was funny to watch him make little animals and fences with the molds. He couldn't believe the texture of it either as it is really unlike anything we've tried before.

Pros:
Fun texture like marshmallows and cotton candy, detailed molds, fun colors and play sets, never dries out, hypo-allergenic and wheat free.

Cons:
Messy clean up as it crumbles during play

Buy It!
You can buy the Moon Dough and the fun play sets that go with it at Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, Kmart and more!

This would make a great gift too! Have you tried Moon Dough yet?

That's super cute! Is moon dough the same as Moon Sand? We have some moon sand that is light and airy and crumbles like that, doesn't dry out, etc. Sounds like the same thing.

How cool! I've never heard of this before but love Play-Doh. I'll have to try it out! Thanks for the review. :)

I've always loved playing with playdough and this looks super fun! I can't wait until my daughter moves past the "still likes to put stuff in her mouth" stage!

this looks like a lot of fun! My kids are really into Play Dough right now (especially edible Play dough!) I'm sure they would love this too!
