Bummis began as the proverbial “kitchen table business”, started by 3 mothers who were using cloth diapers on their own babies and were inspired to create the products they themselves needed. That was way back in the 1980’s. It remained a home business until it grew too large to fit into any home! Since then, Bummis has grown and prospered while staying true to the vision that inspired its inception and the values that fuelled its growth.
They believe that once parents see how easy it is to use cloth diapers, they will use them! So they focus on making it easy – through the products they design and distribute, the washing and using information they disseminate and the customer service they are so passionate about.

I was very excited to be able to review the Bummis Organic Cotton Diaper Kit. As a newbie to cloth diapering I was wondering if it would live up to its claim of including everything you need to start cloth diapering now and that you didn't need to be cloth diaper savvy to appreciate it. Well, I am not cloth diaper savvy (although I'm learning quickly), but I certainly appreciate how well thought out this kit is. It truly includes everything you need to get started with cloth diapers from the day it arrives. I love that a newbie to cloth diapering can simply order the box kit and be ready to go without worrying about whether or not they have everything they need.
Above is a picture of my little Aiden wearing his Bummis diaper. He is only about 2 weeks old in this photo so you can see it fits well. There are two different sized kits available, infant and baby. The infant kit is for 8-15 pounds and the baby kit is for 15-30 pounds. I had planned on waiting a month or so while I recovered from my c-section in order to avoid the extra laundry of having him in cloth diapers. What I found was that he was wearing the disposables and blowing right out of them all over his clothes so I was doing stain removal and tons of laundry anyway. Once I switched to cloth diapers the only extra laundry I had was the diapers and I didn't have to worry about getting the stains out of his outfits anymore! I have to say this surprised me.
The Infant size contains:
• 24 infant size Organic Cotton Prefold diapers (4 x 8 x 4 layers thick)
• 4 Super Whisper Wraps – small
• 2 Super Brites – small
• 3 rolls Bio-Soft liners – small
• 5 reusable Fleece Liners
• 1 Fabulous Wet Bag – large (available exclusively in the Kit!)
• User Guide
The Baby size contains:
• 18 baby size Organic Cotton Prefold diapers (4 x 8 x 4 layers thick)
• 2 Super Whisper Wraps – medium
• 2 Super Brites – medium
• 1 roll Bio-Soft liners – large
• 5 reusable Fleece Liners
• 1 Fabulous Wet Bag – large (available exclusively in the Kit!)
• User Guide

The Super Brite diaper cover fits Aiden the best right now because he is still so little and it offers lycra leg gussets which fit well on skinny babies. I have put this cover on with the prefolds at night and he can wear it easily all night without any leaks. It works wonderfully!

The kit also comes with 4 Super Whisper Wraps which also work great on Aiden. It fits well and will fit even better when he gets a little bigger. We use these during the day and haven't had any leaks so far.
The Organic Cotton Prefold diapers that come in the kit are very absorbent. I'm amazed at how much they hold. They are made of 100% organic cotton and make for a very affordable option for cloth diapering. Each set of six also comes with an organic cotton bag with snap closure. The kit comes with a user guide that shows you how to fold your prefolds for the best fit for your baby. I like the bikini twist which was a bit confusing at first, but a piece of cake after doing it a couple of times. It is the best fold for holding that runny, newborn poop.
I also liked the fleece liners that come in the kit. They work great for those times you need to use diaper cream and want to protect your diapers. The Bio-Soft liners that come in the kit also work well for this. They are great for traveling as well and are softer than other liners I've used.
The wet bag that is included in the kit is huge and works great. We've been able to use that as our sole diaper pail right now. It also washes up well and comes out looking just as bright as when it went into the wash! The large wet bag is also exclusive to the kit! You will also get a sample of Bum Bum Balm which works great on diaper rash.

All in all this kit is a great value and truly includes everything you need to get started cloth diapering. We have been able to use this kit alone with Aiden and it is plenty of diapers. With the prefolds and 6 covers you have plenty of diapers. This kit would make an excellent baby shower gift or a gift for your grandchild.
