Here are the cups. On the left it is empty and this would be the color of a beverage that has gotten room temperature. On the right is filled with ice water. As you can see the color change is not too dramatic but it gets a darker color when it is colder. I found it hard to just look at the cup my son was holding and tell if it was still cold or not as the color change wasn’t drastic enough. I think that having the cup insulated and the color change on the inside layer made it more difficult to see the color change as you were looking through the outer layer to the color. I LOVE the idea of these but was a little disappointed in the functionality of the color change.
That said the sippy cup in and of itself works wonderfully! I love that there are no extra parts, just the cup and the top and no valves to clean separately. I HATE cleaning sippy cup parts so this was a huge benefit to me. And of course the true test of a good sippy cup is weather or not it leaks and this cup passed with flying colors. No leaks!
Pros: All The First Years Sippy Cups are BPA-free and dishwasher safe. They have an easy to clean system which only requires the cup and the lid with no extra parts or valves to clean. They don’t leak and they come in your kids favorite characters (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Disney Princess, Disney Fairies, Toy Story 3 and Cars 2).
Cons: The color change wasn’t as dramatic as I hoped it would be. It was difficult to just look at the cup and know if it was freshly chilled or room temperature.
